Dear Parents and Students
Welcome to Riverview School. The staff and I take pride in helping your children to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to providing a variety of teaching approaches to assist each child grow in his/her own unique way.
We believe that the best learning climate is one in which parents, children, and staff work together. We ask for your assistance and support in providing the best educational experiences possible.

RIVERVIEW SCHOOL GOALS
Riverview School is committed to the following values that form the foundation of our goals and support of our mission.
- Continue to improve students reading comprehension.
- Continue emphasis on student self-worth, getting along with others, good manners, and being a responsible citizen.
- Increase computer familiarity in all grades.
- Continue emphasis of writing skills in all curricular areas in all grades.
- Improve status of Riverview library.
- Implement Riverview's Safe School Plan.
- Encourage students to participate in co-curricular activities.
- Add elective classes to the curriculum.
RIVERVIEW SCHOOL RULES
Our discipline program is based on the philosophy that:
- Every teacher has a right to teach.
- Every student has a right to learn.
The following consequences will be enforced if a student chooses not to obey our rules:
- Verbal Warning
- Student/Teacher Conference with a parent contact
- Detention and referral to the Learning Director with a parent contact
We will deal with a student's problems at school. The only time a student will be suspended will be for major offenses, for example, fighting, use of profanity, defiance of authority, presence constitutes danger to other students, possession of contraband items.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
For students in the:
- 6th grade must not receive an F grade in any quarter in the following subjects: Language Arts and Math
- 7th grade must not receive an F grade in any quarter in the following subjects: Science, Language Arts and Math
- 8th grade must not receive an F grade in any quarter in the following subjects: Social Studies, Science, Language Arts and Math
A student must have a 2.0 GPA by the end of the 4th quarter.
Options for remediation:
1. A student can attend "Saturday School" when offered.
2. Enroll in summer school.
Can a student improve an F grade to a B or A in "Saturday School"?
no; a D or C grade would be fair.
